My name is Clare Ullman, I’m the National Membership Chair and a HUGE fan of WJA! A friend introduced me to WJA 15 years ago and I never looked back. I credit WJA for launching my career as a jewelry designer, with the help of grants, mentoring, and incredible support from some amazing women. It's what WJA does best! In 2004 as a member of the NorCal chapter I dove in and joined the board, served as NorCal president for 4 years, became a national board member and served as Western Regional Director for 2 1/2 years. For the past 3 years I've been serving on the national board as National Membership Chair, working to grow our membership!
I've been a jewelry designer in Berkeley, CA for over 22 years, designing jewelry in high karat gold, silver, pearls, and gemstones. I work with expert goldsmiths in Bali, Indonesia who have been trained in the art of gold granulation. I do most of my manufacturing out of Bali which includes working with 18k & 22k gold and also oxidized silver. My collections are carried in stores and galleries around the U.S.
My travels to the temples of India and Asia got me hooked on the opulence of gold and gems and I fell in love with the art of adornment. Through my ritual/ceremonial work with women over the past 30 years I have been able to incorporate the creation of jewelry as sacred art. It’s my passion and I love what I do!
